In Greek mythology, Pyrene ((ギリシア語:Πυρήνη)) may refer to: * Pyrene, daughter of King Bebrycius and a lover of Hercules. She bore a serpent and became so terrified that she fled to the woods where she died. Hercules created a tomb for her by piling up rocks thus forming the mountain range of the Pyrenees, named after her.〔Silius Italicus, ''Punica'', 3. 415-446〕〔Bell's New Pantheon Or Historical Dictionary of the Gods, Demi Gods, page 203 ()〕〔(Anonymous) ''A classical manual, being a mythological, historical, and geographical commentary on Pope's Homer and Dryden's Aeneid of Virgil''.
